In recent years, the Great Bend Recreation Commission has held a Longest Tail Feather contest, where community members can show off their longest feather from a pheasant for a chance at a prize. Not receiving a huge participation in the contest, the Rec staff has switched to a Great Outdoor Photo contest.
GBRC Enrichment Director Garet Fitzpatrick said any outdoor picture can be submitted.
"It's pretty open," said Fitzpatrick. "Any outdoor activities. We're kind of hoping for more of a nature scene like harvest pictures. We thought about this summer doing a wheat harvest photo contest."
A $50 gift certificate will be awarded to the winner. To enter your photo, post the picture in the comment section of the Rec’s Facebook posts about the Great Outdoor Photo contest. Photos have to be entered by Nov. 30.
No Limits Kennels will handling the judging, and gift packages will also be given to 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
