Barton Softball opens season with split, Baseball wins opener

The Barton Community College softball team opened up its 2023 season Friday in Odessa, Texas, winning in five innings 11-2 over Otero Junior College to notch Carson DuBose' first head coaching victory before dropping a 10-4 contest to 3rd ranked Odessa College.

The Cougars will begin the final day of the Permian Basin Invitational at 9:00 a.m. against North Central Texas College before wrapping up the weekend with another tangle with Odessa beginning with an 11:00 a.m. approximate first pitch.

Baseball

Thanks to a late burst of offense, the Barton Community College baseball team rallied for a 19-11 season opening victory over Rose State College Friday afternoon at Raider Stadium in Midwest City, OK. Trailing 9-0 after the opening three innings, the Cougars accounted for 17 of their 19 runs over the final four frames including an eight run eighth claiming their lone and only lead needed.

Opening the year 1-0 for the seventh straight season, Barton will look to extend its' four game winning streak against the Raiders of Rose State concluding the three game set tomorrow in a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
