A day prior, Hamer was locked in a long jump battle and despite soaring well past 22-feet in five of his six jumps, had to settle for second place for the second straight year, this time just 1.25 inches out of gold on a mark of 7.59m (24-10.75).
On Sunday, Hamer led the triple jump throughout, bettering his first round mark on a second attempt 16.25m (53-3.75) to tie the Plaster Center facility best and break the meet record set by former Olympian and NJCAA Track Hall of Famer Melvin Lister. The nation's top mark would also move the two-time region champion up a spot to 5th best in program history.
In addition to Hamer's title, Simeon Adams' helped compile the Cougars' other pair of golds including capping Barton's 400m sweep by following the Lady Cougars' Keliza Smith's record breaking performance by clocking a personal best 47.57 to better the men's 34-man field.
Earlier in the day, Adams got the already nationally qualified 4x800m relay squad off to a good start passing the baton through the line of Jasiah Clapp, Keandro Gordon, and Gabriel Carty for an event winning 7:52.69 time.
Three hours later Adams was back on the track anchoring the 4x400m relay squad of Devonric Mack, Joshua Mascall, and Wanyae Belle to their heat's fastest time to place 3rd overall with a national qualifying time of 3:13.30.
