Drug arrest made after traffic stop in Great Bend

On Saturday, May 13 at approximately 9:37 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2600 block of Washington Street for a traffic infraction. During the traffic stop, K9 Menta was utilized to conduct a free air sniff, where she alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.

Officers located several different illegal narcotics including marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and non-prescribed prescription medications. The driver of the vehicle, Stephen Sprague, age 47, was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substances, possession of opiates and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sprague was transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
