Alberta Cecilia Ledesma, 92, died September 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born April 8, 1932, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Carlos and Virginia (Orozco) Mancha.
On January 18, 1952, she married Ermenes “Hernenez” aka Herman Ledesma in Great Bend, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1985.
A longtime Hoisington resident, Alberta was a homemaker busy raising eleven children. She was a member of Faith Community Church in Great Bend. Alberta was dedicated to her children most of all and enjoyed time spent with them, whether it was shopping, dining out, or just visiting with her extended family. Her family describes her as sweet and simple, someone who loved sewing, crocheting, quilting, Mexican bands, and dancing. She was also a fantastic cook and baker, renowned for her tamales.
She is survived by her eleven children; Herman Ledesma of Great Bend, Patricia Hess of Omaha, Nebraska, David Ledesma and wife Melissa of Great Bend, Ricardo Ledesma and wife Bing of Hoisington, Monica Johnson of Gainsville, Florida, Rachel Hemken of Great Bend, Carolina Martin and husband Sonny of Hoisington, Daniel Ledesma and wife Narrah of Lyons, Angelo Ledesma and wife Lisa of Great Bend, Alberta Torres and husband Neftalie of Newton, and Thomas John Ledesma of Great Bend; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henenez and her beloved dog, Shy.
A private family graveside inurnment service will be held in the Great Bend Cemetery at a later date.
