Great Bend woman accused of attempted murder after stabbing

On June 28, at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to the 3900 block of Cedar Park Place in reference to a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a male and female inside of one of the apartments. The investigation determined that Mercedes Mater, a 34-year-old female, had stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife.

Mater was taken into custody and transported to the Barton County Jail. She was booked on charges of attempted murder, battery of a law enforcement officer, battery of a corrections officer, and interference with a law enforcement officer.

The victim was transported by Great Bend E.M.S. to the hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
