The Great Bend Panthers are on the road for week 10 Friday night, returning to a battleground they've already won in. The Panthers defeated the Buhler Crusaders in week four of the season by a final of 33-22, and that was without starters and key contributors Cal Scahrtz and Kale Kern. Still Great Bend is not approaching this game with over confidence. Head coach of the Panthers Erin Beck says week four was a while ago, and getting overconfident now will end the Panthers' season.
"Buhler has our full attention. Just like every team will in the 4A playoffs. They're playing really good football. What happened clear back in Week 4, you know, in mid-September doesn't matter. It's about this, this opportunity, this win-or-go-home. We're going to have to be very crisp and not ever hold anything back.
"Got a feeling offensively, we're going to have to take what they give us. They're not going to just sit and do the same thing over and over. You know, some of the areas that maybe we got them last time, they're going to try to adjust just like we're going to do the same thing to them. Getting them the second time is always a little more challenging for both sides of the ball. There's no better scout film than you plying them earlier in the year, so.
"It's gonna be a fun atmosphere. I know that. Our fans are going to travel well, we're bringing the band. Student section is going to be rocking. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful night, I think. Like I saw the winds are like variable which we don't see around here very often at this time of year. Here we go."
Great Bend and Buhler kickoff Friday, November 6th at 7:00PM, with coverage at 6:30 on B104.3 The Point.
