While the official ribbon cutting and public tours for the Great Bend Justice Center took place Oct. 20, the official move-in date has yet to occur for the Great Bend Police Department.

City Administrator Brandon Anderson said the city has run into issues with the final exterior punch list. Issues with drainage, possible slope and grading problems are being addressed.

"We decided internally that we're going to wait until we get everything worked out before we move in," said Anderson. "I hope that will happen pretty quickly.

The property will need to be resurveyed by GLMV Architecture and McCown Gordon Construction. Anderson said he’s hopeful to have the issues resolved by the contract end date of Nov. 10.

"This is why we do the punch list and go through that," said Anderson. "We try to get everyone on the right page at the end."

The nearly $9 million project constructed a 20,000-square-foot facility to house both the police station and municipal court. The .10% sales tax increase approved in 2021 is funding most of the project.
