
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, just before 9 p.m., a deputy sheriff for the Barton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Parish Road in Great Bend. The vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. During the course the traffic stop, officers became suspicious of illegal drug activity and Sheriff’s Office K9 Maxx was deployed. Maxx indicated the presence of controlled substances.
Further investigation revealed a large quantity, approximately 1 pound, of suspected fentanyl. Methamphetamine, oxycodone as well as drug paraphernalia were also located inside the vehicle.
The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Lisa Gomez, age 54 of Sioux City, New Mexico. Gomez was arrested and transported the Barton County Jail without incident where she was booked on requested charges of distribution of fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, distribution of marijuana, possession of prescription narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of alcohol.
Gomez is being held in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
