Action is heating up on the presidential primary trails with the Iowa caucuses already in the books and the New Hampshire primaries scheduled for Tuesday. Things are a little quieter locally. Last week, Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir announced he will again run for office in 2024.
"I've got a good group of people here," he said. "I think we're serving the community well. It's something I want to do another four years and continue the sheriff's office tradition we've established."
Bellendir was first elected as Barton County Sheriff in 2012, and has held the position since. The 2024 primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6. The final day to register or update voter registration information for that election is Tuesday, July 16. The winners of the primary election will advance to the general election held on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
