The Great Bend Fire Department was asked by the Great Bend Police Department if they could assist with a vehicle recovery from Veterans Lake. At approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, members of the Fire Department dive rescue team arrived at the boat ramp, deployed divers and successfully located the vehicle.
The gentleman in the vehicle parked on the ramp to walk on the new dock late last night. The car did not appear to be put into park and rolled down the ramp and into the water after he got out.
A cable from a tow truck was attached to the vehicle and the vehicle was removed from the water. Assisting the GBFD dive team on scene was the Police Department and Larry Marshall from Marshall’s Towing.
