With fertilizer prices continuing to be a significant input cost and the availability issues, it is increasingly important for producers to properly manage their agricultural inputs. To address the topic of nutrient management, K-State Research and Extension, has scheduled four regional programs during the month of January 2023. This program has been designed to help producers understand the fertilizer soil relationships to achieve a greater return from an investment in fertilizer especially in this farm environment with the fertilizer issues.
The meetings schedule is the following:
January 24 – Lincoln – 9:30 a.m. to NOON – St. Patrick Catholic Parish Hall
January 24 – Hays – 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – Cottonwood Extension District Office (601 Main St., Hays)
January 25 – Colby – 9:30 a.m. to NOON – City Limits Convention Center
January 25 – Norton – 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - 4-H Building at the Norton Co. Fairgrounds
The workshop will be presented by Dr. Lucas Haag, KSU NW Region agronomist and Fred Vocasek, Sr. Lab Servi-Tech agronomist along with local Extension Agents. Topics will include KSU research updates, Soil sampling, Fertilizer placement, Non-traditional P and N sources and Keeping fertility rates along with drought impacts along with a question and answer session. So be sure and bring all your questions with you! 3 CCA credits have been applied for.

The Power of Negotiation & Communication – Land Leasing Strategies for Midwestern Ag Women
A 4-Part workshop for Landowners and tenants, open to anyone, not just women. Will be held starting Jan. 18, Jan. 25, Feb. 1 & Feb. 18 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. with a supper each time. Cost is $50, payable at the door the first night. Cottonwood Extension Offices in both Hays, 601 Main St. and Great Bend, 3007 10th St. will be one of many hosting these in-person workshops in the state, and we have partnered with University of Nebraska and Purdue University.
There is also an on-line participant only registration. Please note: You will receive more out of this program by attending a local site in-person, because of the personal interaction with local speakers and networking with other participants. It is highly encouraged you attend in-person if at all possible. The online registration was designed for those areas of Kansas where host sites are a long drive, or for absentee landowners that are not residing in the state of Kansas.
