Downtown Great Bend will already be lit up for the Home for the Holidays Festival on Saturday, Nov. 30. There will be some extra lights this year. Cathy Vonfeldt, volunteer for Adopt-A-Pet, said a Paws-itive Luminary may be purchased for a minimum $5 donation to honor pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge or those still enriching the lives of their families. All proceeds will benefit animals at the Golden Belt Humane Society.

"Jean Claire and I, I help her a lot with the Adopt-A-Pet stuff," Vonfeldt said. "It goes to extra expenses that our budget at the Humane Society does not cover - just things that are over-and-above the budget. None of it goes to any kind of administrative or employees fees. It's the direct care of the animals."

Order early or the night of the festival. Luminaries will have either a snowflake or heart design, and volunteers will write the names of the pet on the luminary. The luminaries will be on the west side of the courthouse from 5-8 p.m. that evening.

Donations may be Venmo'd to Vonfeldt at Cathy-Vonfeldt. Payments can also be made at Identifications, 1413 Main Street in Great Bend. Contact Vonfeldt or Claire with questions.
