Fuller to take part in annual Earth Day observance at Brit Spaugh Saturday

Posted Apr 23, 2026 7:15 PM

In keeping with Fuller Industries Inc.’s robust efforts to make its professional cleaning products more environmentally friendly and to celebrate the importance of sustainability, the company is participated in the 2026 Great Bend Earth Day celebration Saturday, at Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo.

This year’s theme for Earth Day is “Our Power, Our Planet.”

“The main goal when we started Great Bend Earth Day was to educate the public, especially the children in our community, about ways they can help the environment, from recycling, to planting for native pollinators, to conservation of wild spaces,” said Zoo Director Ashley Burdick. “It’s a great way for local businesses that offer green products and services to inform and engage the public.”

“We are deeply committed to environmental sustainability, and this Earth Day is a great time to join with others who share this passion,” said Joe Mann, Fuller’s general manager. “This not only makes sense for us from a business standpoint, but it is also the right thing to do.”

Fuller's cleaning products feature several eco-friendly innovations:

· They've replaced traditional petroleum-based surfactants with natural ingredients.

· Their award-winning monopod dosing system uses water-soluble capsules of concentrated formulas, reducing plastic waste and shipping costs.

· The Micro-E line of micro-engineered natural concentrates offers effective cleaning power from all-natural ingredients, safe for users and the environment.

Fuller products also carry the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice label and international non-profit Green Seal’s Green Seal certification, guaranteeing safer chemical ingredients and adherence to rigorous health, sustainability and performance standards.

The idea is catching on

“We continue to grow each year and bring in new vendors and activities,” Burdick said of the event. “As the event grows, we still focus on celebrating and protecting our Earth, but it has also incorporated more fun activities as well. Our hope is to provide an event where our community can learn, while also having a fun day out with their family and friends.”

This marked the fifth consecutive year for the observance sponsored by the zoo, Rosewood ECycle and Great Bend Dairy Queen. The local event falls a few days after the official 55th anniversary of Earth Day, a global civic event celebrated annually on April 22.

The Kansas Wetlands Education Center, Heartland Farm, Kansas Children’s Service League, Smoky Hills Public TV, the Great Bend Zoological Society, Sunflower Diversified Services, Barton Community College STEM Club, and others also participated.
