What began as an urgent effort to cover emergency vet bills, quickly blossomed into a thriving business. The Great Bend Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrated the inspiring journey of Freaking Delicious Cheesecake Company with a Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, August 19th, at 10:30 am. The event marked not only the company’s official membership with the Chamber but also the exciting expansion of its services, featuring the debut of a brand-new Cheesecake Trailer.
In front of the Chamber office, owner Allie Cartwright shared her latest creation—cheesecake-stuffed cookies—delighting attendees with samples straight from her new mobile cheesecake unit.
The story of Freaking Delicious Cheesecake Company is one of perseverance, creativity, and a bit of serendipity. In August 2022, when Allie’s dog needed emergency surgery, she found herself in a bind and offered homemade cheesecakes to friends in exchange for financial help with the vet bills. To her surprise, the cheesecakes sparked a wave of demand, as friends shared them with others, and soon, complete strangers were reaching out with requests for more.
Freaking Delicious Cheesecake Company was up and running within six months, and what she thought would be a part-time hobby ended up becoming a full-time operation.
Allie bakes her cheesecakes out of The Historic Wolf Hotel kitchen, offering a variety of options, including sweet, savory, and sugar-free varieties. Her website currently boasts 38 unique flavors, with seasonal offerings keeping things fresh and exciting for customers.
The addition of the Cheesecake Trailer marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth, enabling Allie to bring her beloved spin on cheesecakes to local events and festivals. Items she offers from the trailer include frozen cheesecake on a stick, cheesecake parfaits, cheesecake bites with toppings, and cheesecake-stuffed cookies.
Baking hundreds of cheesecakes each month, Freaking Delicious Cheesecake Company has quickly become a popular name in the community. And fittingly, the cheesecakes have gained a reputation for being just as 'freaking delicious' as the name suggests.
Recently featured on KSN’s Good Day Kansas on August 16th, Allie’s cheesecakes have gained even more recognition. While the business does not have a storefront, each cheesecake is made fresh to order, with delivery available within a 25-mile radius of Ellinwood for a small fee.
In addition to direct orders, Freaking Delicious Cheesecake has made its way onto the menu at The Page in Great Bend, and her 9” frozen cheesecakes are also available for purchase at the Ellinwood Packing Plant.
