Today, we celebrate the Fourth of July. But this year, it means just a little more.
As our nation begins celebrating America's 250th birthday, it's a chance to reflect on where we've been, what we've overcome, and the incredible blessings we enjoy every single day.
Freedom isn't free. It never has been.
Every freedom we enjoy today has been protected by generations of Americans willing to put on the uniform, leave their families behind, and, for many, make the ultimate sacrifice. Because of them, we have the freedom to build businesses, raise our families, worship how we choose, speak our minds, and chase the American Dream.
Those freedoms can be easy to take for granted until you stop and think about what others have given so we can enjoy them.
Today, we'll gather with family and friends. We'll watch fireworks, fire up the grill, head to the lake, and celebrate the greatest country in the world. While we're doing that, I hope we all take just a moment to remember the men and women who made those celebrations possible.
Thank a veteran. Shake the hand of someone serving today. Say a prayer for the families who have lost a loved one defending our country. Their sacrifice is the reason our flag still flies free.
Patriotism isn't about politics. It's about being proud of our country while recognizing there's always room to make it even better. It's about serving your community, helping your neighbors, respecting those who came before us, and leaving this country stronger for the next generation.
Here at Eagle Media and Great Bend Post, we're proud to tell the stories of our communities every day because that's what America is built on, people who care about where they live and who work hard to make it a better place.
As we celebrate 250 years of our nation's history, let's remember that freedom isn't something we inherited by chance. It was earned. It was defended. And it's now our responsibility to protect it for those who come after us.
From our family to yours, thank you for reading, thank you for supporting local, and thank you for being part of this incredible community.
Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!
God Bless America.
