Barton men's bowling delivers season best results to close fall semester at SWIBC III & IV

Closing out the fall portion of its 2025-26 schedule, the Barton Community College men's bowling team capped the semester with its strongest performances to date, placing fifth in Saturday's SWIBC III and sixth in Sunday's SWIBC IV at Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas.

SWIBC III RecapSaturday's competition featured four individual games followed by 10 Baker rounds, with the Cougars totaling 5,593 pins to secure fifth-place for their first top 5 performance of the season amongst the 14-team field.

Dayden Cunningham led the Barton lineup with a 24th place finish, posting a 765 total pinfall (191 average). Colton Swift followed close behind in 26th with a 764 total (191 average), while Campbell Peterson turned in a 32nd place finish behind a 756 total (198 average) highlighted by the varsity squad's highest individual game a 246 in Game 1.Fielding a second team, the junior varsity squad captured the JV team title, outpacing four other programs with a 5,333 total pinfall. Hayden Raynor headlined all of the Barton entrees with a 15th place finish, compiling an 810 total (202 average) with three games surpassing 200, including a 231 in Game 2. Alex Wheat added a strong 759 total (189 average) backed by a 220 in Game 2 to help secure the title.

The University of Texas-San Antonio captured the team championship with 6,130 pins, narrowly holding off Southern Nazarene University by 22 pins, while Drury University finished third at 5,977. West Texas A&M's John Green earned individual medalist honors, topping the 104-participant field with a 906 total and 226 average.

SWIBC IV RecapSunday's competition shifted to a six-game individual format, with the Cougars totaling 5,744 pins to place sixth among the 14 varsity programs.

Peterson led the way for Barton, finishing 14th overall with a 1,211 total (201 average) that included the team's highest individual game of the day, a 237 in Game 2 while surpassing the 200-mark in four of his six rounds. Simon Clark followed nine spots back in 23rd with a 1,167 total (194 average) fueled by back-to-back 223's in Games 5 and 6, while Swift added a 1,145 total (190 average) to round out Barton's top scoring leaders.

The junior varsity squad added a runner-up finish with 5,424 total pins, led by Wheat's 1,130 total (188 average) highlighted behind a 246 in Game 5, and Raynor's 1,115 total (185 average) featuring a 240 in Game 5.

Southern Nazarene University made it a program sweep, claiming the men's team title after also topping the women's field with 6,336 pins, followed by Texas A&M University (6,146) and Texas-San Antonio University (6,026). Southern Nazarene's Riley Speer outlasted the 103-bowler field to earn individual honors with a 1,432 total and 238 average.

Concluding the fall semester, the Cougars will return to competition January 17-18 at the SWIBC V and VI, hosted at the Plano Super Bowl in Plano, Texas.
