Barton County is welcoming Julie Gibbs as the new Public Health Director of the Barton County Health Department.
Gibbs was formally introduced during this week’s Commission meeting following an extensive search to fill one of the County’s key leadership positions. As Public Health Director, she will oversee the Health Department’s staff, budget, daily operations, and continued efforts to protect and promote the health of Barton County residents.
County Administrator Matt Patzner welcomed Gibbs to the position and shared the County’s excitement about the experience, energy, and leadership she brings to the department.
Gibbs thanked Commissioners for the opportunity and spoke highly of the team she has joined.
“I’ve been with the Health Department now for six days, so I’m learning a lot,” Gibbs said. “You have a great staff over there. They’re very competent, they run a tight ship, and I’m very fortunate to be part of that.”
Her arrival marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Barton County Health Department following the retirement of longtime Public Health Director Karen Winkelman earlier this year.
With an experienced staff already in place and new leadership stepping in, Barton County looks forward to continuing the Health Department’s important work throughout the community.
The Commission welcomed Gibbs to Barton County and expressed enthusiasm for the future of the department under her leadership.
