
The Barton Baseball Cougars split their double header at Cloud County Sunday to wrap up their big four game series with the Thunderbirds.
Barton cruised to the game one victory winning 8-2 before Cloud was able to salvage the final game of the series with a 6-5 victory.
After taking 3 of 4 from the T-Birds, Barton heads into the final week of the regular season with a one game lead over Colby in the Jayhawk West standings with a record of 21-7 in league and 36-15 overall. Cloud now sits in third at 21-11 and 38-15.
The Cougars and Colby now face each other in the final regular season series that starts Thursday in Colby with a double header before returning to Great Bend on Saturday. The Trojans are 20-8 in the West and 33-16 overall.
Cloud County has completed their conference schedule and has a non-league double header at KCK Community College on Tuesday to wrap up their regular season.
