On Tuesday, Oct. 11, several properties in Barton County will be auctioned
off to the highest bidder. The 2022 tax sale will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Great Bend Events Center on 10th Street.
The Barton County Treasurer’s Office sent tax delinquent notices to 172 homes
or businesses this year. Sheriff Brian Bellendir said many of the properties
were resolved with payment in full or payment plans, and now there are 45 properties
that will be auctioned Tuesday.
"The county doesn't start the foreclosure proceedings on a property for three years," said Bellendir. "These have three years of delinquent taxes that are owed."
Bellendir will serve as the auctioneer Tuesday. Anyone interested in
purchasing property off the tax list should bring identification for
preregistration prior to the sale.
"If you owe delinquent taxes to Barton County, you can not bid on any property coming up at auction," said Bellendir. "That is the one disqualifier there is on this sale. The Treasurer's Office will be checking registrations as they come in."
