Less than 24 hours removed from knocking off a ranked conference opponent, the Barton Community College women's soccer team made the nearly four-hour trip to Lamar, Colorado, on Thursday and came away with a 5–1 victory over Lamar Community College.

The win improves Barton to 3-3-0 overall, giving the Cougars a few days of rest before returning to conference play Sunday with a 5:00 p.m. kickoff at Dodge City Community College. Barton enters the contest at 1-2-0 in league, while Dodge City stands at 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Lamar, meanwhile, remains winless on the season in six attempts.

Katie Potter struck twice in the first half for her first goals of the season, opening the scoring less than a minute in off Meane Martin Damiao's first collegiate assist. After Lamar briefly pulled level, Potter answered in the 23rd minute on a feed from Maki Kimura, who went on to finish with two assists as Barton carried a 2–1 lead into halftime.

The Cougars broke the match open midway through the second half as Potter turned provider in the 72nd minute, setting up Maelle Harnisch's first collegiate goal. Just three minutes later, Kayla Methman netted her first of the season, converting Kimura's second assist to extend the margin to 4–1. Candice Burnier capped the scoring with two minutes left, burying a penalty kick for her first of the year.
