Great Bend police make separate meth arrests on Wednesday

On Wednesday, Sept. 28 at approximately 1:57 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department contacted Marcus Miller, age 34, in the 1400 block of 2nd Street in the City of Great Bend.

Miller was arrested on two City of Great Bend Municipal Court warrants.

During the arrest, a crystal substance consistent with methamphetamines was located on Miller. A subsequent search of Miller's backpack turned up more suspected methamphetamine. The crystal substance was tested and showed a positive indication for methamphetamine. The crystal substance was weighed at the police department and showed approximately 4.5 grams.

Miller was transported to the Barton County Jail and booked on his warrants, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp.

In a separate case on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at approximately 5:40 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department observed a male subject traveling in the area of 9th and Williams Street on a bike.

Officers observed the subject throwing something on the east side of the street. Officers advised the subject to stop, but he continued to ride north bound. The male subject then jumped off his bike and ran on foot.

Officers were able to catch the subject who was identified as Eduardo Torres, age 42. Torres was arrested for an outstanding Great Bend Municipal Court warrant.

Officers located the items Torres had thrown on the side of the road. Officers located a bottle containing a crystal substance consistent with methamphetamine. Testing some of the crystal substance, it showed positive for methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was weighed at the Great Bend Police Department and showed approximately seven grams.

Torres was arrested for his warrant, distribute methamphetamine and no drug tax stamp.
