Last June, the Great Bend Recreation Commission held a grand opening for the Ninja Course and rock wall at the My Backyard Playground on 18th Street. Even prior to the new additions, the Rec was looking for restroom options for the playground during afterhours and the weekends when the Activity Center is closed.
Great Bend Rec Executive Director Chris Umphres said the new restroom facility is now open.
"Monday was the first day we opened it," said Umphres. "There are a couple of snags with the lock. We're still working on that. We're up and running. People will be able to use it as the weather gets nice."
The facility includes heat for the winter time but no air conditioning. The restroom also includes an additional water fountain in the front.
