Each year, the Kansas Association of Broadcasters (KAB) recognizes the top talent in radio and television across the state. The KAB Station Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting encourage the highest standards of reporting, programming, and promotion. The competition recognizes outstanding achievement and inspires excellence among Kansas broadcasters in serving their audiences and communities.
The KAB recently recognized Eagle Media in Great Bend with a pair of first-place awards and another second-place award. 100.7 Eagle County’s “Mornings with Shannon and Evan” earned first place for small-market radio Best Morning Show. That program airs Monday through Friday mornings with co-hosts Shannon Towns and Evan Wedel. Clay Center’s KCLY received second place.
“Voice of the Cougars” Brant Daughtry also received first place in the small-market radio sports play-by-play category. His call of the Barton Community College versus Coffeyville game proved to be the winning call. Goodland’s KLOE received second place, and Concordia’s KNCK earned third place.
1590 KVGB/95.5 FM’s Steve Webster earned a runner-up finish in the small-market radio spot news category for his coverage of the April 8 homicide of 14-year-old Rubi Perez. Goodland’s KLOE won first place for its coverage of a farm bill in the Kansas House.
The 2026 Station Awards and Individual Achievement Awards will be presented during the KAB Convention on Oct. 19 in Wichita.
