The Great Bend City Council will have several decisions to make during Monday’s meeting. The agenda features eight items plus the consent agenda.
Mark Bitter and Sheryl Cheely are requesting council approval of the third amendment to the Moderate Income Housing-American Rescue Plan Act Grant Agreement between the city and the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation. The amendment will revise the completion date to Dec. 31, 2026, unless an additional extension is approved by KHRC. The amendment also replaces an exhibit pertaining to the benchmarks and reimbursement milestones for the $1.42 million MIH-ARPA grant.
The council will also consider an agreement with Barton County regarding a Façade Improvement Grant. Through a series of meetings, both entities discussed allocating $60,000, or $120,000 total, toward the program and expanding eligibility citywide. Once applications are submitted, city and county representatives would jointly review and score each application based on established criteria. Applicants must complete work before being reimbursed.
The body will also consider a $2.09 million bid for the 2026 Asphalt Resurfacing Project, which was designed to improve several of the city’s highest-volume roadways. Venture Corporation submitted the only bid and, with council approval, expects to begin work on or before July 13.
Monday’s Great Bend City Council Meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
