Larned man elected to National Vice Commander of the Sons of The American Legion

The 51st National Convention of the Sons of the American Legion was held at Charlotte, NC, August 25-27, 2023. At the convention, Terry Harris, Larned, KS resident and member of Argonne Squadron 180 in Great Bend, was elected to the high office of National Vice Commander.

Terry is a 60-year member of the Sons of the American Legion, having gained his membership eligibility through the service of both his father (Joseph A Harris Jr, US Army) and his mother, (Della M Harris, Women’s Army Corps). Terry has served in many roles in the Sons, including Squadron Commander, District Commander, Detachment Commander, and Detachment Adjutant. He has served on numerous national committees, including Children & Youth, and Membership where he served as Midwest Region Chairman. During his tenure on the Membership Committee, the Midwest Region achieved 100% membership for the first time in many years. Terry looks forward to his year as a National Vice Commander, traveling the country visiting Detachments around the country.
