Action from the May 18, 2022, Barton County Commission agenda meeting:

EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION AWARD: Natasha Beneke, Sheriff’s Office: -Bailey Rankin, ERC President, provided details. The Employee Relations Committee (ERC) recommends outstanding individuals for the “Employees Recognition Award”. The Commission recognized Natasha Beneke, Records Clerk, Sheriff’s Office, for her effectiveness, commitment and attitude relative to her duties.

SOLID WASTE: Appointment of Interim Director: -Matt Patzner, Director of Operations, provided details. In order for the Solid Waste Department to operate efficiently, Jennifer Hamby was appointed as the Interim Director. Ms. Hamby has served as office manager at the Landfill since 2010. She received her Manager of Landfill Operations certification through the Solid Waste Association of North America in 2019.

RESOLUTION 2022-15: Resolution Transferring and Carrying Over 2021 Unexpended Funds to the Capital Improvement and Equipment Replacement Funds: -Mr. Patzner presented details. After accounting of all 2021 transactions, the following transfers to Capital Improvement and Equipment Replacement were approved:

To Capital Improvement, Total Transfer – $1,480,638.48
General Fund $1,000,000.00
Federal Funds Exchange $190,638.48
Road and Bridge $100,000.00
Special Bridge $190,000.00
To Equipment Replacement, Total Transfer – $257,361.52
Road and Bridge $209,361.52
Noxious Weed $48,000.00

And for the Fire District:
RESOLUTION 2022-01: Resolution Transferring and Carrying Over 2021 Fire District No. 1 Unexpended Funds to the Special Equipment Fund: -Matt Patzner, Barton County Director of Operations, provided details. Fire District No. 1, created to provide fire protection to a portion of the northeastern Barton County, is financed by the City of Claflin and Cheyenne, Independent and Logan Townships. The Board transferred $20,000.00 to the Fire District’s Special Equipment Fund.
