Cold weather has arrived and that's a good time to clean out the closet. Not everyone can afford warm clothing, and Andrea Bauer, public information director for the Great Bend School district, said that's why USD 428 is teaming up with the Family Crisis Center.

"Anytime we can create connections between our schools and the community, it's a win," she said. "We've got the Great Bend Middle School partnering with the Family Crisis Center on a Winter Clothing Drive this December. They can drop off items at the middle school to help students, help out the community, and make sure we're meeting the needs of Great Bend this winter."

From now until Dec. 20, new or gently used coats, winter hats, and gloves of all sizes, from adult to infant, may be dropped off at the Great Bend Middle School. District Family Engagement Coordinator Tayler Stegman said the collaborative effort will not only benefit those in need, but also support the Family Crisis Center's free clothing storefront. Donations of any size can make a difference.
