The Barton Community College softball team dropped its first conference games of the year on Saturday as the 18th ranked Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College swept the Cougar Field doubleheader 8-4 and 7-1.
In the opener, Hutchinson increased their one run lead with three plate crossers in the final two innings for the victory then twirled a two-hitter to complete the sweep.
Barton falls to 6-2 in conference play and 11-10 overall while Hutchinson improves to 7-1 in league and 19-4 on the season.
The Cougars take on their second straight ranked opponent on Wednesday with a 1:00 p.m. home doubleheader against 15th ranked Butler Community College.
Calli McConnell led the Cougars' nine hits with three, all coming in the first game performance including her 3rd home run of the year in driving in three runs.
Jaysa Anderson collected a hit in each game, extending her hit streak to twelve straight on her team leading 4th fence clearer of the year.
Jenna Henderson took game one loss dropping to 2-4 on the season with Sydni Williams dropping to 1-1 in the game two defeat.
