At Monday's meeting, the Great Bend Recreation Commission Board approved a contract offer for Chris Umphres to become the next Executive Director of the Recreation Commission.
The three-year contract will begin Nov. 1, 2022.
Diann Henderson is retiring from the director position Oct. 31 after 40 years in the park and recreation industry.
"Chris has been in several positions with the Recreation Commission for 16 years," said Henderson. "Through that progression of skills and leadership, he's an excellent candidate for this position. We can expect big things from him. He takes his role very seriously and he's flexible. Most importantly, he enjoys recreation. He's very concerned of what recreation is in Great Bend."
Umphres currently serves as the GBRC Assistant Superintendent.
