Every student counts. Special education teachers know that better than anyone else. For her efforts as a special education teacher at Little Panther Preschool in Great Bend, Hilary Emerson was recently named the February winner in Eagle Media’s School Hero Contest, presented by OPI & Golden Belt Printing. Emerson was presented a giant $500 check for her efforts.

 Emerson’s nominator said, “Hilary is an amazing teacher to my autistic daughter. She has always treated her the same as the other children, and has helped her progress so much.”

The School Hero Contest is for any school employee who goes above and beyond in his or her job. Administrators, teachers, paras, coaches, maintenance staff, cafeteria workers, and more are all eligible. A new School Hero will be selected on the fourth Tuesday of each month, and that hero will be recognized with $500 in prize money.
