Joshua Alan Douglass, 44, died of sudden illness September 6, 2022, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.
He was born August 8, 1978, at Denver General Hospital in Denver,
Colorado. He was adopted in 1981, along with his Sister Cyndi Douglass,
by Darlene Epperson Douglass and Lorenzo L. (Doug) Douglass from Adams’
County Department of Social Services.
Joshua graduated from Wichita County High School in May of 1999 and was
slowly transitioned to services provided by SDSI and eventually Mosaic
of Garden City, KS, where the family was assisted in seeing Joshua had
everything he needed to establish a full productive life of his
choosing.
In addition to the death of his adoptive Mother Darlene when he was
five, Joshua was preceded in death by his Grandparents Lloyd L.
Douglass, Ray and Velda Epperson, and an Uncles, Ron Epperson and Tony
Epperson.
Survivors include his Father, Doug Douglass, Cleveland, Oklahoma, his
Stepmother Charla Douglass, Garden City, and his Grandmother Veda
Douglass, Firth, Nebraska, along with his Step-Grandparents Harley and
Mary Ellen Foulks of Garden City.
Joshua is also survived by his Sister Cyndi Douglass of Emporia, KS, his
Half-Sister Amanda Douglass of Thornton, Colorado, and his Step-Sister
Karie Roth and Step-Brother Matthew Koster, both of Holcomb, Kansas, and
many Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.
Of very special mention is his beloved Mosaic Host Home Provider,
Kathleen Stahlecker, of Garden City, KS, who lovingly took time to get
to know Joshua at Mosaic and helped Mosaic transition him in to her home
where she provided full time care and love for him the last three and a
half years of his life.
Joshua led a full life and enjoyed the outdoors, swimming, flying, four
wheeling, motorcycle riding, animals and his ongoing love of learning,
which included adaptive American Sign Language for communication.
A Memorial Service celebrating Joshua’s life will be held at 2:00 PM,
Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City,
KS.
