Love, Kansas is an initiative by the Kansas Department of Commerce to attract more people to choose Kansas to work and live their lives. The initiative provides statistics on what makes the Sunflower State so special to live, such as Forbes Media ranking Kansas as the second best state for cost of living in the United States.
The City of Great Bend is one of more than 50 communities participating in the Love, Kansas campaign. Great Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Christina Hayes said the initiative will be led by the Great Bend Economic Development.
"Tourism is important as well because when you move to a new city you're always a visitor first," said Hayes. "That's why the tourism is part of this. The Great Bend Chamber of Commerce, CVB and Economic Development are working together to drive this for Great Bend."
Love, Kansas, lovekansas.com, works with the local communities to help kick-start their local campaigns. Participating communities receive a $5,000 grant that assists them in efforts to bring Kansans back home.
Ellsworth County, Larned and Russell County are participating in the initiative as well.
