The City of Ellinwood asked Barton County to annex a portion of a roadway. Barton County Counselor Patrick Hoffman said Ellinwood is in the process of cleaning up their boundary lines with the newly constructed hospital.
Barton County Commissioner Duane Reif and the rest of the board approved the annexation of half a roadway on Park Avenue, approximately 30 feet.
"It's part of Park Street and part of the ditch I'm assuming," said Reif. "It's not a big issue. We're not taking a lot of land out of production."
Hoffman added the annexation brings zero expenses to the county, and will squarely put the maintenance of the road on the City of Ellinwood. The Barton County Commission approved the annexation at Tuesday’s meeting.
