Tuesday morning, the Barton County Commission proclaimed April 2026 as World Autism Acceptance Month, emphasizing the importance of understanding, inclusion, and support for individuals and families living with autism.

Local efforts, including those led by the Autism Committee and Pilot Club, continue to make a meaningful impact across Barton County. Recently, emergency response teams were equipped with specialized resources such as sensory items and tools designed to better assist individuals with autism during emergency situations. These resources are already being utilized and making a difference in real-time responses.

The proclamation encourages continued education and awareness as the community works to build a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.
