All season long, Great Bend High School tennis coach Chris Manning hoped to get at least one Panther back to the state tournament. As the No. 6 seed in Salina Friday, all Brendyn Schroeder had to do was let the bracket play out according to the numbers to make it back to state. It's never quite that easy. Great Bend ended its season at the Class 5A regional.

As the No. 6 seed, Schroeder opened with a bye before falling 6-3, 6-3 to Salina South's No. 11 seed Carson Crow. Crow came up one win shy of qualifying for state. Jordan Manning played as the No. 16 seed in the bracket, dropping his first set to No. 17 Carson Albert from Hutchinson 9-6.

The doubles bracket played out in similar fashion. Kaden Deines and Cameron Harbaugh entered as the No. 15 seed with a 9-4 loss to the No. 18 seed from Salina Central. As the No. 16 seed, Jacob Parks and Aaron Ramirez were shut out 9-0 by the No. 17 seed from Salina Central.
