The University of Kansas Health System in Great Bend is pleased to have Peyton Zink, CCC-SLP, certified speech and language therapist, join its speech and language pathology team. She joins Katie Patterson, CCC-SLP, in providing speech language services for children and Emma Biltoft, CCC-SLP, who provides speech and language therapy for adults.
Zink provides speech, language and swallowing services for children of all ages, including therapy for language delays or disorders, speech-sound disorders, eating concerns and more.
“I previously worked as a school-based speech and language pathologist,” Zink said. “I love working with kids and I’m excited to continue serving the pediatric population in this setting.”
Speech language pathology is the study, evaluation and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders in children and adults. The addition of a third speech and language pathologist to the team means children and adults in the community will be able to receive more specialized care close to home.
“We’re continuing to develop the program and meet community needs by providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based practice,” Patterson said. “Our department is always seeking to expand and enhance services. We’re passionate about community and outreach to ensure people have access to and knowledge about the services we offer.”
Zink and her husband, Colton, are originally from Claflin and are happy to be back in the area. They enjoy spending time outdoors with their two boys and watching Royals baseball games.
“I’m excited to be part of the speech therapy program at The University of Kansas Health System so I can serve and support patients and their families in the same communities that I grew up in,” Zink said. “I understand the importance of having high-quality care close to home.”
Zink earned her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders and master’s degree in speech-language pathology at Fort Hays State University. She also has a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology.
Speech and language pathology services are available at 3715 6th St. in Great Bend. For appointments, call 620-791-6270. All speech language pathology services require a referral from a primary care provider.
