From time to time over the years, buildings need maintenance. The Great Bend Recreation Commission recognized the Recreation Center on Stone Street and the Activity Center on 18th Street need some attention.

Executive Director Chris Umphres said the board approved a new furnace, gutter
replacement and window repair.
"The gutters have some leaky spots," said Umphres. "We have the handicapped-sloped sidewalks. When you get icy spots in the wintertime, dripping down on customers...it's time to get that fixed."
A new furnace was purchased for the Recreation Center. An approved bid will
also replace the gutters and make window repairs at the Stone Street location.
The board also approved a bid for gutter repair at the Activity Center.
"With the quote going through on Monday, we'll get with the contractors," said Umphres. "Hopefully, we can get on their schedule and get it done. Some of that might be weather dictated with an outside project."
All three of the bids came from local contractors.
