Despite chilly conditions at Tuesday's Bill Kimble Invite at Hoisington High School, the Central Plains girls managed to set a pair of school records.

Oiler freshman Kamree Nixon edged out Cimarron sophomore Jyntri Wilson by less than half a second to win the 800m run in 2:25.41. Nixon's time ranks No. 4 in Class 1A this year, and breaks a 14-year-old school record set by Lindsey Woodmansee in 2012, the first year after CPHS was formed. Woodmansee's previous record was 2:25.86.

The 4x400m team of Nixon, freshman Ashtyn Robl, and sophomores Emery and Aevyn Simpson won their race by 11 seconds in 4:20.19. The old school record of 4:20.65 was set in 2021. With the new time, Central Plains ranks No. 7 in Class 1A.
