
Fort Larned National Historic Site (NHS) is always proud to present several annual living history events throughout the year. As always the event season at Fort Larned NHS starts with Mess and Muster, which this year is held on Saturday, April 26th. This event is a collaborative event between Fort Larned NHS and their friends’ group, The Fort Larned Old Guard. This year’s theme is: Defending the Frontier and there will be quite a few valuable programs that you won’t want to miss.
Here’s what the lineup for the day’s programs:
10 AM – Corporal Leander Herron – First Person Presentation
11 AM – The Letter “D” – Deserters, Disorder, Discipline, Duty
12 PM – Lunch $12.00 (must pre-order box lunch by April 18)
1 PM – Cannoneer’s Hop
2 PM – Frontier Field Service – US Army field weapons and equipment
3:30 PM – Defending Sacred Lands: Weapons of the Plains Indians
5 PM – Retreat Ceremony
5:15 PM – Doors open in the Quartermaster Storehouse to view silent auction items and preview historic military firearms collection
6 PM – Dinner catered by Great Western Dinning $20.00 (must pre-order by April 18)
6:45 PM – Old Guard Business Meeting and Awards
7 PM – Military Arms: Small Arms used at Fort Larned and beyond
