The Kansas Sunflower-Safe Residential Safe Room Program is designed to provide a rebate for the purchase and installation of a new residential safe room for Kansas homeowners. Program funding is available through the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program administered by the Kansas Division of Emergency Management.
The Safe Room Rebate Program will use a random selection process so that everyone who registers will have an equal chance to be selected.
Guidelines Include:
• Safe room must be installed at a primary residence in the state of Kansas.
• Previously installed safe room or safe rooms that are in the process of being built are not eligible.
• Homes in the floodplain with flood insurance are eligible for an above-ground safe room.
• You may not build or install the safe room yourself.
• The Safe Room must comply with FEMA guidance.
