COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Zhuric Phelps scored 19 points off the bench and No. 22 Texas A&M never trailed in an 83-72 win over top-ranked Auburn on Tuesday night. It’s Texas A&M’s first-ever win over a team ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll and ends a six-game winning streak for the Tigers, who clinched the Southeastern Conference title with a win over Kentucky on Saturday. Texas A&M (21-9, 10-7 SEC) denied Auburn (27-3, 15-2) an undefeated conference road record after the Tigers entered the game 9-0 in SEC road games this season.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Richie Saunders scored 23 points and No. 23 BYU outlasted No. 10 Iowa State 88-85 in double overtime for its seventh consecutive victory. Dallin Hall had 22 points off the bench for the Cougars, who recovered after blowing a 21-point lead in the second half. Egor Demin added 12 points and Mawot Mag scored 10. Joshua Jefferson finished with 19 points and Milan Momcilovic had 18 for the Cyclones, who have lost three of four. Curtis Jones scored 16 off the bench, Tamin Lipsey added 15 and Keshon Gilbert contributed 13 points and eight steals.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Henri Veesaar scored 22 points, Caleb Love added 21 and No. 24 Arizona pulled away for a 113-100 win over rival Arizona State. The Wildcats won the first meeting this season in a game that got so testy at the end Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley pulled his players off the floor before the handshake line. The rematch had far less animosity, and the scrappy Sun Devils managed to keep it close late despite being down to five scholarship players after starting guard Adam Miller was injured in the first 28 seconds. Arizona wore down the Sun Devils, shooting 59% with a 52-30 advantage in the paint to earn a bye into the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament. Alston Mason led Arizona State with 33 points.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Javon Small scored 18 points to help West Virginia (17-12, 8-10 Big 12) beat its former coach Josh Eilert and Utah 71-69. Small hit a 3-pointer and Eduardo Andre followed with an alley-oop dunk to spark a 14-6 surge to give West Virginia a 70-64 lead with 12 seconds left. Gabe Madsen made a 3 and Jake Wahlin forced a turnover and scored on a layup to pull Utah to 70-69 with about a second left. Sencire Harris split a pair of free throws and Madsen’s 3-point attempt was blocked by Joseph Yesufu to end it. Madsen scored 23 points to lead Utah (16-13, 8-10),

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Norchad Omier scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Baylor held on to beat TCU 61-58. Noah Reynolds scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half for TCU. Knotted at 58, Baylor’s Robert Wright drove the lane on Vasean Allette and drew his fifth foul with two seconds left. After Wright made both foul shots, TCU, which was out of timeouts, lost possession of the ball on a near length-of-the court inbounds pass. With Baylor now inbounding the ball, the Horned Frogs’ David Punch fouled Omier with a second remaining. Omier made 1 of 2 for the final margin and Baylor failed to get off a shot.

UNDATED (AP) — Attorneys seeking approval of the $2.8 billion legal settlement for college sports pointed to nearly 102,000 athletes who signed up to receive damages from the action, while batting down objections to what they described as the “intergalactic paradigm shift” the settlement will create across the NCAA. In a motion filed in federal court in California, plaintiff attorneys also noted that only 343 of nearly 390,000 people covered by the class-action lawsuit had opted out, while only 73 had submitted objections to the court. Judge Claudia Wilken is set to rule April 7 on whether to finalize terms of the settlement of the lawsuit filed against the NCAA and five conferences.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — TCU wrapped up its first conference title of any kind since 2010 with a win over Baylor last weekend. Now, the eighth-ranked Horned Frogs are eyeing a Big 12 Tournament championship to go with their regular-season title. The league tourney begins with a quadruple-header on Wednesday, followed by another on Thursday. TCU is among the top four seeds that earned double-byes and will begin play in the quarterfinals on Friday. The tournament wraps up with the championship game on Sunday.

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Hailey Van Lith from Big 12 regular-season champion TCU has been named the conference’s player of the year, and the newcomer of the year. Van Lith transferred to the Horned Frogs for her fifth and final college season. The Big 12 announced its award winners Tuesday, as voted on by the league's 16 head coaches. Van Lith is the first player in the league’s 29-season history to be picked the top player and top newcomer in the same season. TCU’s Mark Campbell was named coach of the year after the eighth-ranked Horned Frogs won their first Big 12 title.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James has become the first player in NBA history to score 50,000 combined points in the regular season and postseason. He needed just one point during the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The 40-year-old James is already the top scorer in NBA history in both the regular season and the playoffs during a career in which he has rewritten all previous definitions of basketball longevity. He is on the verge of 50,000 combined points deep into his 22nd season. That's tied with Vince Carter for the most seasons in the league by any NBA player.

DALLAS (AP) — Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving has a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season. The team confirmed the diagnosis on Tuesday. Irving was injured in the first quarter of Dallas’ 122-98 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday night. It’s the biggest setback so far this season among a slew of injuries for the Mavericks. They lost 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis to a groin injury in his Dallas debut following the trade that sent superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Roki Sasaki has pitched three scoreless innings for the Los Angeles Dodgers in his spring training debut against the Cincinnati Reds. Sasaki allowed two hits, struck out five and walked one. The right-hander threw 46 pitches, 26 for strikes. Yoshinobu Yamamoto started for the World Series champions and worked four innings of two-run ball before Sasaki came in. The Reds put two runners on with one out in the fifth, but Sasaki escaped the jam by striking out TJ Friedl and Matt McLain — both looking.

UNDATED (AP) — Saquon Barkley will become the highest-paid running back in NFL history after his record-setting season helped the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl. The Eagles are giving Barkley a two-year contract extension worth $41.2 million with $36 million guaranteed, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because the extension hasn’t been announced, said Barkley’s new deal includes $15 million in incentives. Barkley ran for 2,504 yards in the regular season and playoffs, breaking Terrell Davis’ record for most yards rushing in one season.

UNDATED (AP) — Davante Adams’ reunion with Aaron Rodgers lasted just 11 games with the New York Jets. The team released the veteran wide receiver Tuesday, ahead of the start of the NFL’s new league year next week. The move, which was expected, will save the Jets $29.9 million in salary cap space. It follows the team’s announcement on Feb. 13 that they’re also moving on this offseason from Rodgers, Adams’ longtime teammate and friend.
