Lady Cougars near century mark in final tune-up for upcoming conference opener

The Barton Community College women's basketball team wrapped up play in the weekend's Best Western/Booster Club Classic posting a decisive 98-42 Saturday victory over the developmental squad from Kansas Wesleyan University.

The pair of Classic victories improves Barton to 4-2 on the season headed into Wednesday's 5:30 p.m. conference opener hosting top ranked Hutchinson Community College. The Blue Dragons capped its two-days in the Barton Gym with an 81-59 victory over Redlands Community College improving to 6-0 on the year.

Barton posted over 27 points in each of the first three quarters as all thirteen Cougars played more than nine minutes in making scoreline contributions in what would be a 62-point margin mid-way through the final period.

Multiple career highs were achieved across statistical columns, most notably the 21 point performance by Brittany Simpson on 80% shooting including 2-of-4 from long distance and tying for the team lead with 5 assists.

Freshmen Alaina Eck and Kodi Greer combined for 5-of-6 shooting behind the arc, Eck perfect on her pair of attempts towards a 15 point night while Greer's career high performance of 11 points featured 3-of-4 arc busters.

Coming off a monster double-double on Friday, Vivian Onugha was on the court for just thirteen minutes in producing 11 points and grabbing 7 boards with Keyona Hall scoring 11 points and hauling in 5 off the glass helping Barton to a plus-18 rebound advantage.

Kamryn Rietzke was the lone Coyote to reach double-figures with 21 points as Kirar Morris added 7 points.
