
Earlier this week, the Kansas Arts Commission announced the recipients of its grant awards. For the 2025-26 period, $1 million was awarded to 108 recipients in 35 counties, including Pawnee, Stafford, Rice, and Russell. The funds will support museums, arts education, music, dance, visual arts, professional and community theater, creative writing, murals and other creative projects.
The Fort Larned National Historic Society received nearly $14,000, and the Stafford County Historical and Genealogical Society received just over $6,300. In Rice County, USD 444 Little River was awarded $4,000. Three Russell County organizations: the Lucas Arts and Humanities Council, Inc., Switchgrass Collaborative, and Friends of S.P. Dinsmoor's Garden of Eden will split more than $45,000.
