KIOWA COUNTY—Two people died in an accident just before 3p.m. Tuesday in Kiowa County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2023 Ram 1500 driven by Donald Knier, 83, Hugoton, was westbound on U.S. 54 just east of 13th Avenue.
The pickup traveled left of the center line and struck a 2005 Ford F150 driven by Tabitha Ward, 17, Stratford, Texas. After impact both vehicles caught fire.
Knier and Ward were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to Ford County Coroner's Office. The KHP had incomplete seat belt usage information.
