AMES, Iowa (AP) — Jason Bean passed for 287 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown to Lawrence Arnold after Iowa State pulled within three points in the fourth quarter, and the No. 22 Jayhawks held off the Cyclones for a 28-21 victory. The Jayhawks won consecutive conference games for the first time since 2008. They also reached the seven-win mark and won in Ames for the first time since that ’08 season. Iowa State began the day in a five-way tie for first place in the Big 12, but the Cyclones’ comeback bid came up short after trailing 21-3 with 9:24 left in the third quarter.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Bert Auburn kicked a 42-yard field goal in overtime and the Texas defense got a key stop on fourth down to earn a 33-30 win Saturday in a matchup of Big 12 co-leaders. No. 7 Texas had led 27-7 late in the third quarter before No. 25 Kansas State stormed back with three touchdown passes from Will Howard. Texas went nowhere on its first possession of overtime before Auburn’s go-ahead kick. Kansas State then drove to the Texas 6. Three consecutive plays gained only 2 yards before the Wildcats went for the win instead of the tie. Howard was pressured and his pass was batted down.

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Ollie Gordon II ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns, and Oklahoma State defeated No. 10 Oklahoma 27-24 in the last Bedlam rivalry game before Oklahoma leaves the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference next year. Both teams started the day as part of a five-way tie for the conference lead. Alan Bowman passed for 334 yards, Rashod Owens had career highs of 10 catches for 136 yards and Brennan Presley caught eight passes for 97 yards for the Cowboys. Dillon Gabriel passed for 344 yards, Drake Stoops had career highs of 12 catches for 134 yards for the Sooners.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia becomes bowl eligible with a 37-7 victory over BYU. Freshman Jahiem White rushed for a season-high 146 yards while CJ Donaldson ran for 102 yards and two short touchdowns for the Mountaineers. West Virginia amassed 336 yards on the ground. That's the most under fifth-year coach Neal Brown. West Virginia jumped ahead 27-0 at halftime and cruised from there. Junior college transfer Jake Retzlaff made his debut for BYU in place of the banged up Kedon Slovis. The Cougars failed to reach 300 yards of offense for the fifth straight game. They lost their fourth straight road game in Big 12 play.

CINCINNATI (AP) — RJ Harvey rushed for three scores and John Rhys Plumlee ran for another as UCF outlasted Cincinnati 28-26 to secure its first win in Big 12 Conference play. Harvey, who finished with 164 yards on 20 carries, scored on a 1-yard run to put the Knights ahead 28-20 with 2:41 left to play. The touchdown capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive. Emory Jones and the Cincinnati offense answered by taking just 1:14 to march 74 yards. Corey Kiner punched it in to bring the Bearcats within 28-26 with 1:27 remaining. Jones’ pass attempt to Dee Wiggins on the two-point conversion attempt fell incomplete and UCF escaped.

WACO, Texas (AP) — Houston quarterback Donovan Smith ran for a game-winning 2-point conversion after his 1-yard touchdown run in overtime and the Cougars got their first Big 12 road victory, 25-24 over Baylor. The home Bears began the overtime with freshman Dawson Pendergrass’ 3-yard TD run. Smith threw two TD passes in regulation. After his TD run in overtime, the Cougars called timeout and decided go for the win instead of trying to force a second extra period.

UNDATED (AP) — A potential separation weekend in the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference turned into a survive-and-advance Saturday around college football. Just win. Don’t fret the how. No. 1 Georgia and No. 8 Alabama are on a collision course for the SEC title game; No. 3 Ohio State trailed Rutgers at half before pulling away; No. 4 Florida State didn’t shake Pitt until late in the third quarter; No. 5 Washington ran away from No. 24 USC and No. 7 Texas needed overtime to beat No. 25 Kansas State. No. 10 Oklahoma was unable to complete the mission, beaten by Oklahoma State in Bedlam.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — University of Michigan President Santa Ono sent an email to Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti, imploring the conference to wait for results of the NCAA’s sign-stealing investigation before potentially taking action against the Jim Harbaugh-led football program. Michigan athletics spokesman Kurt Svoboda shared the contents of Ono’s email with The Associated Press on Saturday night, when the third-ranked Wolverines played Purdue at home. Connor Stalions, the former low-level Michigan football staffer at the center of the probe into impermissible scouting and sign stealing, resigned Friday.
