Jason L. Martin, 49, died Dec. 18, 2023, at Clara Barton Hospital ER, Hoisington. He was born Oct. 5, 1974, in Great Bend, the son of Rick Kleck and Cynthia Martin. Jason graduated from Hoisington High School in 1993 where he excelled at football. He then received a scholarship to play at Garden City Community College and later Washburn University.
He married Trisha L. Funk on Oct. 4, 2008, in Milberger. They were blessed with two daughters, Aubree and Ava.
A lifetime Hoisington resident, Jason worked for 22 years for the railroad. He also spent time working as a bondsman and managing rental properties. He was a member of the First Christian Church. An avid outdoorsman, Jason loved hunting and fishing. Every 4th of July was always an extraordinary event in the Martin home and he put on quite the show. Above all else, he loved his girls and was at every event cheering them on or trying to beat them in board games, he just loved spending time with them.
Survivors include; his wife Trisha Martin of the home; and two daughters, Aubree and Ava Martin; his four-legged child, Lexus; father, Rick (Cindy) Kleck of Troy, Mo.; and mother, Cindy Martin of Great Bend; three brothers, Jared (Allie) Guesnier of Central, S.C.; Brian (Carri) Kleck and Adam (Lauren) Kleck, all of Troy, Mo.; two sisters, Jill (Dan) McCreary of Troy, Mo., and Amy (Adam) Mistler of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; grandmother, Joan Tenbarge of Newton; mother-in-law, Cindy (Clif) Strickland of Hoisington; father-in-law Dennis (Sue) Funk of Galatia; brother-in-law, Richard (Ann) Funk, of Great Bend; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry & Esther Martin and George Kleck and his favorite hunting dog, Deuce.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., and a Prayer Service beginning at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Rhonda Templing SAM presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
