From the Pilot Club of Great Bend
The Pilot Club of Great Bend is pleased to announce that the 4th Autism Workshop will be held on Sept. 12, 2026, at Barton Community College in Great Bend. The title of this workshop is “Sensory and Play: Understanding Autism and other Neurodivergent Conditions.”
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, is a broad range of conditions that affect communication and behavior. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that autism affects 1 in 31 children. Because many of these children experience concurrent disorders, and many children without autism do as well, the scope of this workshop will cover Sensory Processing Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Anxiety to name a few.
It is our hope that with this workshop, we can reach more parents and teachers by expanding the content to understand things affecting our children, and most of all, gain an appreciation of their world and how we can help them live their best lives.
Our featured speaker is Amy Nelson, LCSW, LSCSW, RPT-S. She is a play therapist as well as an Award Winning Author. Her website is www.emotionalmilestones.com.
Registration is available at greatbendpilotclub.com. More information will be forthcoming as we approach this event.
