Tucked away at the end of USD 428 board of education meetings is the approval of the personnel report. At Tuesday's Board of Education Luncheon at Jefferson Elementary school, that report included some big news. Great Bend Assistant Superintendent Tricia Reiser will be stepping down from her role to accept the superintendent position in Winfield.
"I want to thank USD 428 for the time I've been here the last 18 years, specifically (Assistant Superintendent John Popp) and (Superintendent Khris Thexton), for their support and for empowering me to be the leader I am today. This is bittersweet for me. We've got some wonderful things going on in USD 428, but I am confident all of them will come to fruition."
Tuesday's report also included the resignation of teacher and Great Bend High School Wrestling Coach Nathan Broeckelman, who has accepted the coaching job at Barton Community College. Popp was pleased to see several new hires on the list as well.
"Not to minimize Trish, but the more exciting thing for me is that we have several licensed appointments," he said. "That's really good to see that."
Reiser was one of five candidates interviewed for the USD 465 Winfield position. She will assume her new role on July 1.
