With temperature lows set in the single digits this weekend and wind chill values with negative signs in front of them, Live Like Jesus Ministries will again open a warming shelter in Great Bend.

Buzz Birney, with Live Like Jesus Ministries said the warm safe haven will be located in the Anchor Room, on the east side of the Dream Center, 2100 Broadway Avenue.

"We don't want anyone to freeze to death or be without water, heat or food," said Birney. "We'll be able to provide all of them."

The warming shelter will open at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19. Birney said the shelter will be open 24 hours a day and expected it to remain open through Wednesday, depending on the weather.

If citizens are planning to spend the night, they are welcome to bring a change of clothes. Live Like Jesus Ministries will provide the beds, blankets and food.
